I know only some html. I am 46 would like to change career. I am thinking learning PHP and possibly LAMP to get a job as entry level. How long do you guys think it will take me to learn the material. I was thinking developing under linux but I know nothing about linux. Will it be more beneficial to learn under windows? If I study about 3 H per day , how long will it take me to get there. Thanks.

It depends on how deep you want to know about PHP, your current knowledge about PHP and other computing stuff and mostly how much do you want to learn.
I think you will need about 1 month to learn PHP. You can learn from a book, ask people near you, or ask people you don’t even know where they are using Yahoo! Answers.

Well if you can handle even a little HTML and you study 3 hours per day, I think you should learn good PHP in month. I watched a PHP guide and it seemed pretty easy, so it depends on how hard you try and how well you remember things. I say 2 weeks to 1 month if you really study 3 hours per day
