I have done some html only. I am now studying PHP for the last 2 day :). To be marketable I would like to learn Ruby & RoR on the same time. Do you guys think it is advisable? I think both languages have different syntaxes . Thanks.

I would suggest go for one language at a time, or else you would confuse it with something else.

. Concentrate on one language first I would concentrate on php . Once you learn php it will be easier to pick up Ruby.
I would also look at learning perl it is a lot older then php and is what php originated from. The best way to learn a language is by using it so don’t worry if you don’t know everything yet.

Yes, learn PHP first then it would be easy to learn Ruby on Rails.
Cool

If you don’t mind occasionally confusing the syntax between languages and/or having to look up keyword / usage specifics every so often, then it isn’t a big deal. I tackled about 4 W3C-recommended languages/formats at once and only sometimes had “confusion cross-over.” These were layered on three other languages I use often. After awhile you get used to it. I don’t know anybody who sticks to one language, to be honest, and it was a lot more efficient to learn several at once (Javascript, css, xml and PHP in my case) and apply what you learn incrementally to the real-world project.
You might also consider Python - it is quickly supplanting other server scripting and xplat languages and enjoys vast support and libraries for just about everything.
I wouldn’t bother with RoR unless you’re in a shop/project that already uses it. Its a bit on the esoteric side, wide usage aside.
