I am a web developer who wants to run an Apache/PHP/MYSQL server on my computer for testing purposes. I need an ALL IN ONE installation and I don’t want to waste my time installing dozens of servers.

I understand every PHP/MySQL script in the world is not 100% safe, I know how to code and stuff, but I just need to know what are some of the things I should do to make the script as secure as possible?

Heres what I have so far:
- clean data passed through forms to prevent code injections
- crypt or md5 usernames and password

What else shoud I do to make my script secure?

I am just beginning programming, though I have some knowledge of the very basic concepts like variables from starting to learn Perl and Javascript, but giving up due to a lack of time and enthusiasm. However, I now am ready and willing to learn PHP and MySQL, since I already have a decent idea for a useful website.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m only 14 years old, but I would say I am smart.

Hi there guys!
I just studied PHP & mySQL… my mind is a bit blown already since i’m still new to this language. Anyways, i’m running winXP with IIS as my server, mySQL is set already as well as PHP. Now i’m used to Dreamweaver MX & wants to know if there is a shortcut in dreamweaver in creating mySQL dB in it. I already found out that you can connect to the dB but is there a way that you can also create it using dreamweaver only; NOT hard coding it?

Hope you guys could help & guide me what to do. Thanks in advance!

Peace out!

I am trying to make a website that makes it easy for me to edit the layout, menus etc. and I thought that I might use PHP for the website and use to load the content of each page from the mysql database into the PHP.

But then I thought that I might be able to do it the other way: create each page and load the menus and layout into each PHP page. How do most people do it? Which way is better, and which way should I use?
So should I create a main php page and load the content into it or should I create multiple php pages and load the menus into it?
